Lower Keats Glamping Wins at Devon Tourism Awards 2023-24
Three is the Magic Number
Great news! The results are in, and we’re delighted to share that we’ve received Bronze in three Devon Tourism Awards categories:
- Glamping Business of the Year
- Ethical, Responsible, and Sustainable Tourism
- Accessible and Inclusive Tourism
It’s wonderful to be commended for our efforts in these categories, especially as we’ve been working hard to make sure Lower Keats is as accessible and sustainable as possible. Plus, we faced some stiff competition – these awards weren’t just open for glamping businesses, but for all the tourism businesses in Devon. So, we’re feeling really proud and thrilled with our beautiful awards crafted by @dartingtonuk.
Thanks to @swtourismawards for a fabulous evening, for the time spent by the many judges, and also congratulations to all the winners.
Awards organiser Robin Barker of Services for Tourism commented: “What an extraordinary industry and county this is! Whatever is thrown at this sector, there is a dynamic core that bypasses the hurdles and continues to innovate and invest – and what’s also great is that entries into the awards are up – especially in the Ethical, Responsible and Sustainable & Accessible and Inclusive Tourism categories – all of them so central to a thriving region.”
Finally, as always, grateful thanks to our wonderful staff team, family, guests, and supporters – as without all of you we are nothing.
We are now waiting to hear if we have been put forward as a finalist for the South West Awards, watch this space! Press release.
Lower Keats Glamping Wins Gold at Devon Tourism Awards for Glamping Business of the Year!
We’re over the moon and privileged to have won such a distinguished award, with such fierce competition and high standards from other finalists. We’d like to thank our fabulous team, and the judges and also congratulate the other finalists. We’re so grateful to our local suppliers who stock our honesty shop and safari lodges. We think the combination of their artisan products and treats, and our homegrown food makes Lower Keats extra special.”
Awards organiser Robin Barker of Services for Tourism commented: “It never ceases to amaze me how tourism businesses continue to innovate and excel, even when faced with the most extraordinary hurdles. You are my heroes – each and every one of you! Congratulations Lower Keats on winning Gold in what has become one of the most competitive and innovative awards categories.”

Green Tourism Gold Award
We have signed up with the Green Tourism Brand to help us promote our green commitment within our business.
This ensures that our guests know we take green issues seriously and that we have had an independent certification.
We are delighted to share that we achieved the highest award, the Gold standard!
This internationally respected accreditation scheme has helped thousands of businesses get greener, saving them money and making a real difference to the environment. Only a few glamping sites hold the Gold accolade!
This ensures that our guests know we take green issues seriously and that we have had an independent certification.
Food Hygiene Rating of 5!
We have recently been inspected on our food provision by Environmental Health who give businesses a rating from 5 to 0 so you can make more informed choices about where to buy and eat food.
We are thrilled to have received the top rating of 5 – which means our hygiene standards are very good
The rating shows how well the business is doing overall, based on standards found at the time of inspection.
Good to Go – Visit England Award
We were so delighted to achieve the ‘Good to Go’ standard. The programme, which is run in partnership with VisitScotland, Visit Wales and Tourism Northern Ireland, is for businesses across the sector to demonstrate that they are adhering to the respective Government and public health guidance, have carried out a COVID-19 risk assessment and check they have the required processes in place. We had a spot inspection and passed with flying colours!
Muddy Goes Glamping Review
Once upon a time, you were either a camper, or not, it was that black and white. And if you were in the ‘most definitely not’ camp (s’cuse pun), it wasn’t always cool to admit it, because embracing the Great Outdoors and all of its quirks is something we Brits LOVE doing and have done for decades. But, let’s face it, those ‘quirks’ aren’t for everyone. Shower blocks with prehistoric-looking cobwebs and the odd daddy longlegs thrown in for good measure, just aren’t my thing. Nor is the sleeping bag, for that matter.
Trip Advisor Awards
Many of our lovely guests have been so kind to leave reviews for us on TripAdvisor and we were thrilled to have been awarded their Certificate of Excellence in 2019. This was followed by their Travellers’ Choice awards in 2020 and 2021! These awards are a relection of the many fabulous reviews we have received.
Thanks to everyone that has taken the time to leave a review. (It really helps when guests are deciding to book). We would love to receive a review after your stay, tell us what you loved, and what we could possibly improve too. To leave us a review click here.
Country Mummy Review
It’s no secret that as a family we love glamping… it combines all of the fun of camping with the luxuries of a 5* hotel. All of the home comforts mean that bad weather doesn’t affect your break, & I don’t think you can find a much better way of experiencing the great outdoors without sacrificing luxury.
We’re also Featured in Muddy’s Little Black Book and are also delighted to have now been awarded their Weekend Escapes Rosette!
Down on the farm, near the Jurassic Coast, we kipped under canvas at the luxury Lower Keats. Lower Keats Farm, just outside Axminster on the Devon/Dorset border is the home of Linda and Gary, who recently decided to open up one of their fields to glamping. Down a lane away from their farmhouse, you’ll find six safari tents in a bucolic and peaceful setting, nicely spaced from your neighbours if you’re anxious for peace and quiet, but equally close enough if you’re coming en masse.

We were featured on Channel 4’s program 4 in a bed at the end of September 2018. For those of you who don’t know it, the program follows B&B owners who take turns to stay with each other as they compete to be crowned as the best hosts.
