Award Winning Safari Lodge Accommodation
No cold midnight wanderings to the loos or cold showers here! Our lodges have en suite toilets and shower rooms with hot running water, proper beds and their own kitchens with wood burning stoves to keep you snug and warm. At Lower Keats we’ve thought of everything, even an additional double burner gas hob, for that early morning cuppa or cooking without the need to fire up the stove, so that all you will need to do is sit back, relax and enjoy your stay.
Our lodges
As we are nestled in beautiful countryside and only a 15 minute drive from the amazing Jurassic Coastline, we have chosen to theme our lodges coast and country. Three lodges are named after local coastal places of interest: The Cobb, Golden Cap and Beer. The remaining lodges are named after animals that you are likely to see during your stay Stag, Deer and Pheasant. In 2023 we added 3 off grid wood fired hot tubs – simply add one to your booking!
Situated in the heart of Devon’s Axe Valley, between Axminster and Chard alongside the River Axe, Lower Keats is the ultimate destination for luxury glamping in Devon. Amazing views of our Devon meadow-land and unadulterated night skies gives you the chance you deserve to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, stress and worries.

The Hive Communal Area
We are very excited to announce the build of a communal area for groups to gather, eat and relax together, sheltered from the elements.
We have got it all covered, if you are staying with us as a group, having a party or special birthday, The Hive is perfect for using when the weather is not so good.
This amazing space will get everyone together for your special occasion. We’ve thought of everything, a wheel barrow sink! and even a fire pit/bbq that you can sit around so all you will need to do is relax and enjoy your stay with great company.
Included in The Hive area is our woodburning pizza oven which is used for our popular pizza nights, Gary’s pizzas are not to be missed!
Ever passionate of our ‘support local pledge’, we used a nearby business for this very exciting project! – follow our blog to see progress of our builds and improvements.

Protecting the Environment
At Lower Keats we are always looking for new ways to recycle and reuse items; we have recycled wooden crates in our lodges and honesty shop, and have also sourced lovely antique furniture for the living areas. The floor of our log store and the tent joists under your feet are also enjoying a second life. We would like our guests to recycle as much as possible whilst staying with us and we provide facilities for this.
We are focused on limiting our footprint on the land and the effect our visitors have on the local habitat. We believe that we are custodians of the land for our time here and seek to only improve it under our care. We use green power sources to light and warm our lodges, including solar and wind up lamps and wood burning stoves that use locally sourced sustainable wood.
To protect the environment we supply our guests with Oleo bodycare products for use in the lodges. The entire Oleo Bodycare range is created, manufactured and packaged locally at Bridport in Dorset. The formulations benefit mind, body and wellbeing, using high quality essential oils, herbs, vegetable oils and extracts. As nature provides an abundance of safe, therapeutic ingredients, Olivia from Oleo does not use anything synthetic or potentially harmful which is present in other products. Oleo products do not include: Parabens, Synthetic fragrances, Synthetic colours, Mineral oils or Sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS) – and none of the Oleo products or their ingredients have been tested on animals. This also means that our waste water is not contaminated with anything harmful either.
Here at Lower Keats all sewage is dealt with on site with no chemicals by use of a septic tank and clean water waste system. The treatment is achieved by high efficiency air diffusers continually pumping oxygen to protect the natural environment.

Outdoor gym and fortress
We all know that excercise and fresh air are good for us, both for our bodies and soul.
On site Gary has been busy building our outside gym and fortress, so guest’s have plenty of opportunies for children and adults to play, exercise or hang about!
We are always thinking about our footprint on the land, therefore, both the fortress and gym equipment are made from leftover project or recycled wood.
