Arrival Information

All the information you will need for your stay

Arrival Info:

We ask all guests to plan journeys to arrive between 4 and 7 pm, keep us up to date with arrival times by texting 07540 367386, when 50 mins away as it will give you time to familiarise yourself with the lodge and light the wood-burning stove. Arriving and settling into your lodge takes a little while; from meeting us on arrival outside our honesty shop to unloading your luggage and wheelbarrowing everything across the field, it’s all part of the glamping adventure.

It’s very important to plan your journey so that you arrive with us during daylight.  However, due to our very rural environment, it’s unlike arriving at a hotel where you park up and walk across a well-lit path.  All of this is so much easier for everyone, in the daylight, as it really is pitch black once the sun goes down – there are no street lights at Lower Keats.

Please remember we are Lower Keats Farm (not Keates Farm: as a sat nav will take you to the centre of Broom Lane), carry on down the hill until you see our large sign on the left at the end of our gravel drive, go past the house give us a beep (we can hear this if we are already at the glamping meadow with guests!).

Meet us at the Honesty Shop, next to the agricultural barn on the left, if we are not there give us a call as we may already be with guests.

On arrival (and after days out) we suggest that guests use hand gel, we have a gel and wipe station in the log store outside of the shop, and there is also soap and water next to the barn if you prefer.

Please be aware that the honesty shop is open 24 hours and that children should be accompanied and that no goods can be returned to the shop.

On arrival, you will find your milk and any ordered meals and bakery waiting for you in the fridge in the honesty shop.  Each lodge has a named shelf in the guest fridge.

Don’t forget to collect ice packs from the log store freezer for use in the cool box lodges.  When refreezing these please use the bag provided on your clipboard to keep them separate whilst in the freezers.  We recommend using about 6 cool packs per cool box.

Clipboard:
Lodge directions and the shop code will be waiting on your honesty shop clipboard in a poly pocket, and after our welcome, we will be on hand to answer any questions at the Honesty shop and will also pop up to the field to check all is well.  Please ensure that clipboards stay in the shop, this makes it easy for you to record any spends!

Lodge:  In your lodge, you will find detailed lodge instructions to walk you through the finer details of how everything works with further details in the guest information pack.  You can of course also call us with any questions too.  Gary has two videos, how to lace your tent and how to light the wood-burning stove, simply watch by clicking the QR code in the lodge pack.

Hot Tubs:  If you have pre-booked one of our off-grid wood-fired hot tubs, please take a look at our safety rules and guidance & how to use your tub info, before you arrive.  If you would like to add a tub to your stay, email linda@lowerkeatsglamping.co quickly to check if any are still free!

Bakery:
If you are wanting to order bakery for your first morning, please send a text to 07540 367386 before 12 pm on your arrival day, and for further orders also text by 12 pm each day.  Orders are delivered each morning to the honesty shop table, in a bag with your lodge name on it.  On Sundays, we can provide croissants and sausage rolls, again just text by 12 pm on Saturday.

Meals:
We have homemade meals available should you wish to reserve one for your first night, just let us know the day before arrival and we can ensure that it is waiting for you in our shop fridge, these just need reheating.  Or perhaps order a farm steak stew pack/chilli pack or Bolognese pack and let it simmer on your wood-burning stove or gas hob while you enjoy a glass or two…  We also have our own farm quiches, sausages, bacon, eggs and burgers, steaks, steak mince, diced steak, and joints of beef & lamb, so don’t bring too much with you.  If you are wanting meat for your first evening, just let us know the day before arrival and we can have it ready for you from the freezer.  We also have milk, local yoghurts, butter and cheeses, curries, crackers, chutney, jam, pasta, soups, jacket potatoes, onions, biscuits, gelato, granola, marshmallows the list goes on! To drink we have locally roasted coffee, soft drinks, beers, wines, ciders, and fizz.

For your first night, It would be quicker to select something that can be warmed on the gas hob rather than waiting for the wood-burning stove oven to get up to temperature.

Pizza:
Just to let you know we will continue to hold our pizza nights on Tuesday and Saturday evenings at The Hive (if there is enough interest for pizzas). We can provide 9” pizzas with unlimited topping for £11 each, just make any orders by text to 07540 367386 by 9 am on pizza day and we will deliver pizzas to the honesty shop fridge before we light the wood-burning pizza oven around 6 pm.  Guests then collect their pizzas from the fridge when they are ready and we will help you cook them!

Eating out:
We have plenty of great eateries around us and we recommend booking one of our locals: The Tytherleigh Arms, The Old Inn, Hawkchurch, and a bit further, The Cotley Inn who have just won pub of the year!  See the link below.  But don’t bring too much with you, as we do have plenty of food options in our onsite honesty shop.

Vegetable boxes:  We are fortunate to have two local vegetable box schemes. Why not order a vegetable box ready for your arrival, we are fortunate to have two local suppliers: Trill Farm and Holly Farm (during the summer months).

Clothing: We would recommend that you bring warm coats and wellies as well as beachwear, this is Devon after all!  We suggest also footwear that can be kicked off easily, so you keep your tent lovely and clean.  Slippers or thick socks are also perfect for use when in the lodges as it can be chilly before the wood-burning stove is fired up.

Do get in touch if we can be of any further assistance before you arrive with us and we will do our absolute best to help.

See you soon, safe journey,
Linda & Gary Kellaway
