So much to do you might never want to leave
There’s so much to do at Lower Keats Farm, for families, children and couples. When you have done all you can here there’s much more to do in the local areas of East Devon and West Dorset. And if you’ve managed to do all of that; we have some ideas for what you can do even further afield.

For the Family

Our animals

Don your wellies and help us tend our farm animals which provide a great source of both entertainment and education for kids (whether they are young and old). We have chickens, ducks, sheep, calves, pigs, dogs and cats.

See how many eggs you can collect during animal feeding from our laying hens and ducks.
Have you or your children ever stroked a duck, hand fed a hen, brushed a pig or bottle fed a lamb? Watch the children’s glee as they jump right into a hands on farm experience; there’s always a hungry lamb or calf in need of a drink in the busy spring months. They can be quite strong so you have to hold on tight to the bottles!

Watch the peaceful youngstock as they go about their business munching the grass in the fields and or help to feed the noisy pigs and if you’re lucky the pigs may even dance for you!

Wildlife spotting

There’s a rich and diverse range of wildlife around Lower Keats. Borrow one of our animal books or bring an I Spy book and see how many species you can catch a glimpse of or find footprints or droppings – buzzards, deer, jays, squirrels, rabbits, butterflies, bees, foxes, dormice, stoats, pheasants, weasels, barn owls and little owls. Often many of these can be spotted either early in the morning or as dusk falls. How many bird calls can you identify? Do you know the difference between a tawny owl cry and that of a barn owl or a male and female pheasant?

Get creative

There are so many creative and fun things you can do on site. Bring a sketch book and pencils or paints with you and try your hand at replicating the beautiful countryside of your lodge view. After a hard day’s farm exploration or one of our local walks along our lanes, borrow one of our many board games from the Honesty Shop for some evening fun with the family or in the glamping meadow build a den, play rounders, cricket or Kubb or play hide and seek.

For Couples

Kick back and relax! The peace, tranquillity and luxurious facilities of Lower Keats make a perfect setting for lovely lazy mini breaks, away from the buzz of traffic and pressing deadlines of work and family. Bring a book, a bottle of something special to chill in the fridge and even pre-order a meal or the local ingredients for a delicious dinner on your arrival. Watch the stars come out while sitting round soaking up the idyllic atmosphere from the balcony or your campfire. Explore the farm and its surroundings and relax into a slower pace.

Groups/Parties/Hen/Stag

Our lodges cater easily for 6 people, providing a unique setting for a group gathering such as a special birthday celebration or get together, or hen groups.  Please note that groups must adhere to our noise rules. See our terms and conditions.

Cook up a feast on the BBQ or fire pit using local ingredients from our onsite honesty shop, have a celebratory drink on your deck and enjoy quality time with your friends and family. It’s the perfect setting for any celebration.

New for 2019 – We are very excited to announce the build of a communal area for groups to gather, eat and relax together, undercover from the elements. Ever passionate of our ‘support local pledge’, we are using a nearby business for this very exciting project! – watch this space and follow our blog for progress of the build…..
